In previous months, we’ve highlighted some of our amazing patients such as Carole Urban and Dan Burke, but this month we wanted to highlight one of our prescribing VRT Physicians. His name is Dr. Kevin M. Chauvette and he first opened his private practice, Merrimack Vision Care in Merrimack, NH back in September of 1990. Prior to that, Dr. Chauvette performed his undergraduate at the University of New Hampshire and St. Anselm College and went on to graduate from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 1989.
He is a Fellow in the College of Optometry in Vision Development and had previously been a Board Member of the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. Dr. Chauvette currently holds professional memberships in the American Optometric Society, The College of Optometry in Vision Development, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.
Needless to say, Dr. Kevin M. Chauvette has an impressive background, and has embraced the NovaVision therapies over the years. We’ll let him tell you in his own words:
“I have been working in the field of visual rehabilitation for over 20 years and the addition of NovaVision VRT has changed my treatment protocol from one of training compensation skills for a “permanent” field loss to treatment with VRT as my first line choice to improve peripheral awareness and overall function. I see field expansion in nearly two thirds of the patients I treat and, surprisingly, even those who don’t show an expanded field are glad they went through the therapy.”
In addition to running his own private practice at Merrimack Vision Care, he is currently the Director of vision clinics at all of the following rehabilitation facilities: Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital, Concord, NH, Northeast Rehabilitation Hospitals in Salem and Nashua, NH, and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts. While working with these facilities, Dr. Chauvette evaluates and treats patients who have recently suffered stroke, traumatic brain injury, cranial surgery and other neurological disorders, that’s where our relationship comes in.
